Abstract

782,701. Gear pumps. BROWN TRACTORS (ENGINEERING), Ltd., D. June 25, 1956 [March 23, 1955], No. 8397/55. Class 110 (2). In a gear pump, the delivery pressure is applied to the bearings in two components, one of which acts axially upon the bearing whilst the other acts radially upon the bearing in order to resist the tilting moment acting upon it. One set or both sets of end bearings are urged against the gear-wheels by fluid acting on piston and thrust-plate means, see Fig. 1 (not shown), whilst pressure fluid is fed through passages u, v<SP>1</SP>, v<SP>2</SP> to act on flats w<SP>1</SP>, w<SP>2</SP> machined on the bearings.
