Abstract

897,688. Transistor amplifying circuits. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. March 15, 1961 [March 28, 1960], No. 9406/61. Class 40(6). A push-pull transistor amplifier is biased from a source 36 via resistor 35 so as to operate in class A at small signal levels. At inputs exceeding the voltage of source 36 a reversely-connected shunting diode 33 becomes conductive and the arrangement operates in class B for higher signal inputs. As shown the arrangement is of the common emitter type, but it may alternatively comprise a common base circuit (Fig. 1, not shown). The output transformer shown may alternatively be replaced by the tapped control winding of a servomotor.
