Abstract
845,092. Transistor amplifying circuits. MULLARD Ltd. April 24, 1959, No. 14070/59. Class 40(6). In a transistor amplifier in which the load in the emitter-collector circuit is inductive in nature, e.g. a loudspeaker fed via a transformer TFI, overload due to the transistor being driven beyond cut-off is prevented by negative feedback between collector and base over as non-linear resistor Z. The non-linear resistor may comprise a Zener diode which only comes into operation when the collector-to-base voltage rises beyond a safe value.
