Abstract

832,435. Controlled non-linear inductors. TELEFUNKEN G.m.b.H. Dec. 6, 1957 [Dec. 11, 1956], No. 38013/57. Class 40 (9). [Also in Group XL (c)] A bi-stable circuit comprises an amplifier having a predetermined normal state of conductivity (on or off) that is driven into the other state by a pulse and means controlled by the output of the amplifier for controlling the output of an A.C. source from which a rectified voltage is applied as bias to maintain the amplifier in its existing state of conductivity until a further input pulse of opposite polarity arrives. Fig. 5 shows a transistor 12<1> normally biased off from a positive source. When a negative pulse arrives at terminal 2 the transistor 12<1> conducts, causing saturation of the square loop magnetic core 24, so that the reactance of winding 25 falls. The core 24 is biased so that rectification occurs, resulting in a negative base voltage which maintains the transistor conductive. An auxiliary D.C. bias may be applied to winding 27. The alternating voltage source 4 may be common to a number of such bi-stable circuits. Circuits in which the core 24 is replaced by a diode are described in Group XL (c).
