Abstract
909,776. Transistor amplifying circuits. NIPPON ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Aug. 25, 1961 [Aug. 30, 1960], No. 30747/61. Class 40 (6). In a transistor amplifier wherein gain control is effected by varying the D.C. operating level, a first transistor 1, with a grounded emitter is directly connected to a second transistor 2, connected in a grounded base circuit. This arrangement is such that the input and output impedances of the amplifier remain substantially constant irrespective of variations of the emitter current of transistor 2. Gain control is effected from terminal 5 via diode 3 which is connected in parallel with the input to transistor 2 so as to control its emitter current. The diode may be replaced by a non-linear resistor and the gain control circuit may include a current measuring instrument A. The circuit is such that the bandwidth characteristics of the amplifier are not affected by variation of the D.C. operating level.
