Abstract
802,307. Transistor amplifying circuits. PHILCO CORPORATION. Dec. 19, 1956, No. 38677/56. Class 40 (6). In a pulse amplifier comprising an emitterfollower output stage 25 having input signals applied to its base electrode, the emitter of the output stage is connected to the base electrode through a diode 29 which is so poled that it is only conductive when the transistor 25 is cut off, thereby preserving a low output impedance for the circuit irrespective of whether the transistor 25 is conductive or not. The output stage is preceded by an input stage comprising a transistor 13 to which pulses, for example in a binary coding system, are applied from an input terminal 22. A diode 24 is arranged in series with a resistor 20 between the collector and base of the transistor 13 and is so poled that it conducts to prevent the transistor being driven into saturation when the potential of its base is sent negative to make the transistor fully conducting. The amplifier is shown as supplying output signals to a capacitive output circuit such as a coaxial cable.
