Abstract
1490226 Transistor signal gating circuits SIEMENS AG 5 Dec 1974 [10 Dec 1973] 52572/74 Heading H3T In a transistor signal gating circuit in which a common input E is connected to outputs Al- An via output arms 1-n each comprising a two-stage A.C. signal amplifier with a common base transistor input stage TS1 and a common collector transistor output stage TS2, the emitter-collector path of the transistors TS1 and TS2 is connected in a series D.C. path between two supply voltage terminals, the base of each transistor TS1 is connected via a respective choke D1 to the emitter of a further common collector transistor stage TS3 which serves to maintain the potential at the base of each transistor TS1 constant and a respective control terminal St1-Stn is connected to the collector of each transistor TS2 to enable or disable the associated signal arm 1-n. Earth potential is applied to the relevant control terminal St1-Stn to enable a signal to pass the associated arm 1-n. When an output arm is blocked by removal of the earth potential from the control terminal the output transistor TS2 turns off but the emitter current of the associated input transistor TS 1 is practically unchanged due to the transistor TS3 which keeps the base voltage of TS1 constant. The transistor TS1 is saturated and therefore no longer has an amplifying function. As the emitter current is maintained the input impedance of the amplifier remains virtually unaltered.
