Abstract

897,619. Disc brakes. PORSCHE, F.A.E. May 16, 1960 [May 30, 1959], No. 17142/60. Class 103 (1). In a disc brake having a brake applying housing 9 surrounding an internal periphery of a brake disc 7, the latter is adapted to be detachably secured to a support means 5 formed as a drum having a rim portion 6 and the brake support means 5 is adapted to be secured to a vehicle wheel 2, the brake disc 7 being formed with a collar-shaped projection 13. A plurality of fins 14 is arranged at the outer free end of the disc extension 12 and cooling air may be circulated through apertures 15 in disc extension 12 and 15<SP>1</SP> in wheel 2 by the effect of the blower fins 14. The Specification describes and illustrates modifications wherein the inner side of the rim portion 6 may be engaged by brake shoes linked to the vehicle hand brake lever. Alternatively, a band brake linked to the vehicle hand brake lever may engage the outer periphery of projection 13.
