Abstract
864,129. Wheel cover discs. CORNERCROFT Ltd. Nov. 17, 1959 [Nov. 17, 1958], No. 36842/58. Class 144 (1). In a wheel cover disc 10 which is secured as by a screw 104 to the protuberant portion 141 of a thin-walled metal shell 14 resiliently wedged in the centre of a wheel 12, the disc has apertures 101 therein for access to the wheel fixing bolts 111 and apertures 106 therein to permit projection therethrough of the studs, or, as shown, humps 123, whereby the conventional hub cap 15 may be snappedon to mask the apertured central portion of the cover disc. As shown, the apertures 106 are of such depth as to permit entry of a tool for pry-off removal of the hub cap, and the disc 10 is shaped so that, on initial abutment of the disc 10 with the wheel, a clearance exists between the disc centre and the shell protuberance 141 whereby on tightening of the securing screw 104 the cover disc is sprung into rattle-free engagement with the wheel in the region 105.
