Abstract
897,292. Flexible hoses. ISOPAD Ltd., and REIK, H. July 10, 1958 [April 10, 1957], No. 11752/57. Class 99(2). [Also in Group XI] A flexible hose comprises an inner core 1, e.g. of metal, around which is helically wound a length of tape 2, e.g. of glass fabric, carrying a heating wire 3 which is doubled back upon itself so that both its ends are at one end of the tape. Lagging 4, e.g. of hessian or asbestos, surrounds the inner core 1 and an outer protective covering 5, e.g. of neoprene, rubber or canvas, is provided. The ends of the wire 3 are connected at 8 to the wires 9 of a cable 10 which also has an earthing wire 11 connected at 12 to a hose coupling 7. The inner core 1 may be of high temperature rubber upon which the wire 3 is wound direct, Fig. 2 (not shown). The doubled back heating wire may be laid longitudinally against the inner core 1 instead of being helically wound. In the case of a flexible metal hose the heating wire may be incorporated in a layer of high temperature rubber fitted or extruded around the metallic inner core.
