Abstract

864,460. Couplings. A.E.I.-HOTPOINT Ltd. Feb. 6, 1958 [Feb. 6, 1957], No. 4111/57. Class 38 (1). A terminal arrangement for a mineral insulated conductor 3, e.g. a sheathed wire heating element, comprises a flanged ferrule 6 secured to the conductor sheath 2 and located thereon by a lip 7, and a shroud 9 secured to the ferrule by a clip 11 and projecting beyond the ferrule so as to enclose the joint 14 between the conductor 3 and a flexible lead 5. An insulating sleeve 13 fits over the joint 14 inside the shroud. Fig. 3 shows a modification wherein the outer end of the shroud is turned inwardly at 15 to retain in position around joint 14 a sleeve 16 of refractory insulating material.
