Abstract

A bobbin assembly comprising a flanged bobbin 1 of electrically insulating material, a coil 4 of enamelled wire 5 wound on the bobbin, and a supply lead 6 electrically connected to one end of the wire of the coil, includes a projection 8 on a flange 2 of the bobbin, and a connector element 10 having a first portion 11 crimped about an end portion of the wire 5 and the supply lead 6, and having a second portion 12 crimped about the supply lead and the projection 8 on the flange. The projection 8 is in the form of a tube having a longitudinally extending open seam enabling the end of thelead to be positioned in the projection 8. The flange 2 is provided with a groove 14 across the face of the flange and aligned with the tube-like projection 8, the groove being provided for the reception of the end of the enamelled wire 5. The insulation is stripped from the end of the supply lead 6 and the end is passed together with the end of the enamelled wire 5 through the projection 8 into the first portion 11 of the connector element 10. The first portion 11 is crimped about the two ends. The portion 11 is also provided with inwardly extending serrations which pierce the enamelling of the wire 5 and thus effect electrical connection between the supply lead 6 and the wire 5. The second portion 12 of the connector element is then crimped about the lead 6 and projection 8. A further projection 9 may be similarly provided for the other end of the wire 5.
