Abstract

1,149,685. Terminals. KRONE K.G. 19 July, 1967 [19 July, 1966], No. 33193/67. Heading H2E. A clamping joint for making electrical connection between an insulated wire and a connecting element comprises a clamping member with at least one sharp edge, rotatable within the connecting element, and having such dimensions that the wire, freely inserted through a hole in the connecting member in a first position of the clamping member is stripped during rotation of the clamping member into a second position by the sharp edge and its bare core is pressed against the inside wall of the connecting element. As shown in Fig. 2, insulated wire 5 is inserted into hole 4 in connecting element 1, clamping member 2 of square cross-section is rotated by a screwdriver in a slot (3), (Fig. 1, not shown), corner 6 strips the insulation and clamps bared wire 5a against member 1 and the clamping is reinforced by corner 7 which bears against the insulated wire. Alternatively, as in Figs. 3 and 5, the contact element is a lug 8 rolled at its end with holes 4 to receive insulated wires 5. Clamping element 9 is cylindrical with hemispherical cutouts 10 which the insulated wire fits and guide grooves 11 (Fig. 5) round the remainder of the circumference which are too small for the uninsulated wire 5a. The straight edges of cutouts 10 strip the insulating and the bared wire is held between a groove 11 and the inside of member 9. The connecting element may have several holes such as hole 4 for a corresponding number of wires.
