Abstract
1,243,938. Electric couplings. AMP Inc. 1 May, 1970 [21 May, 1969], No. 21174/70. Heading H2E. An electrically conductive spice terminal 1 comprises a web 5, having upstanding sides 6, 7 which are bent over the web and downwardly to form flanges 9, 10, each having a respective leaf spring portion 11, 12 to urge an inserted conductor, such as 15, against a respective side wall 6, 7, the web also having an end projection 3 comprising conductor retaining means. Such means may be crimping ferrules (34, 35, Fig. 3, not shown) or a tapered slot 19 having roughened or sharpened sides which cuts through any oxide or insulation layer on a force fitted conductor 20. An insulating housing 25 for the terminal is provided with guide funnels 28, 29 and an aperture 32 through which aperture a tool end may be passed to urge a leaf spring from a respective conductor to permit removal of the conductor. A shoulder 26 inside the housing engages a tongue 22 of the terminal to retain the terminal in the housing. An aperture 33 provides for access to the terminal by a probe. Panel mounting means may be provided on the housing.
