633,976. Hose pipes. SPENCER MOULTON & CO., Ltd., G., CHRYSTAL. J. M., and HOLBROOK, W. C. Oct. 21, 1947, No. 28106. [Class 99(ii) ] A hose, e.g. for coupling heating pipes on railway vehicles has a metal reinforcement 2, comprising wires sheathed in heatresisting insulating material, braided or helically wound on to a rubber sleeve 1 and embedded in natural or synthetic rubber, subsequently applied. There may be a plurality of reinforcing layers 2 with intervening layers 3 of rubber, and the reinforcement may comprise stranded brass wires 7 each lapped with an asbestos covering 6 and finally twisted into a cable 5. Cotton yarn 8 may be interwoven in the braided reinforcement.
