Abstract

874,007. Flexible hose pipes. COMPOFLEX CO. Ltd. Sept. 13, 1957 [June 19, 1956], No. 18889/56. Class 99(2). In a flexible hose comprising a seamless convoluted tube and a reinforcing braiding sheath, a protective sheath of helical overlap metallic strip is provided between the convoluted tube and the reinforcing braiding. As shown the convoluted tube 10 is of stainless steel and the protective sheath 11 is of bronze. The braiding 12 is of stainless steel wire. In a modification the protective sheath is a tinned steel sheath having interlocking overlap and the braiding is of bronze wire. According to the Provisional Specification a braided protective sheath made of ribbon like elements may be arranged between the convoluted tube and the usual wire braiding. Alternatively the protective sheath instead of being metallic could be of plastic material such.as polytetrafluoroethylene, glass cloth or nylon.
