Abstract
893,464. Pouring devices; screw closures. METAL BOX CO. Ltd. Feb. 17, 1960, No. 5664/60. Classes 66 and 125(3). A bottle pourer made of resilient plastics material, e.g. polyethylene, comprises a hollow shank 1 frictionally engaging the bottle neck by means of ribs 3 and having an external shoulder below a pouring lip 6, the shoulder being pressed down to form a seal against the end of the neck by means of a member 12 depending from a head 9 within a screw cap 7 which may be of metal, Fig. 1, on moulded plastics material, e.g. polystyrene, Fig. 5 (not shown). The shank of the pourer is tapered at 4 to aid in its insertion in the neck, which may be achieved automatically by a reciprocable tool Fig. 2 (not shown); and the pourer may be extracted by similar automatic means, Fig. 3 (not shown). The cap may be designed to press down the shoulder of the pourer without an intermediate member, Fig. 4, or the said member may be integral with the cap, Fig. 5 (not shown).
