Abstract

891,444. Coaxial cavity resonators. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. June 30, 1960 [June 30, 1959], No. 22950/60. Class 40(8). The tuning probe of a coaxial resonator 1, 2 extends through the inner conductor 2 and comprises two axially spaced parts 3, 5 joined by a cylindrical member 4 made of a fibrous dielectric material, e.g. polyesterbound glass fibre, having the fibres extending in an axial direction. The inner part 3 of the probe slides within a sleeve 9 of polytetrafluoroethylene held to the end of the inner conductor by a metal cap 10. A silicone-rubber band 12 surrounds the end of the sleeve 9 and ensures an air-tight, seal between the sleeve and the probe. The outer part 5 of the probe is screw-threaded into a support 6. The relative dimensions of the cylinder 4 and the inner conductor 2 are such that propagation of energy between the two parts, of the probe is prevented. The ends of the cylinder 4 are bored-out and extend into the (tubular) parts 3, 5 where they are secured by crosswise pairs of dowels 13, 14. These contact and maintain each other in a state of tension.
