Abstract
PURPOSE:To make working easy and lower production costs by forming both of an adapter and an optical fiber support by means of an alumina sintered body which is voluminously producible at low costs. CONSTITUTION:A support 11 which supports an optical fiber 3 and an adapter 13 which is inserted with this are both consituted of an alumina sintered body such as Al2O3, and an axial hole 15 for inserting and adhering the optical fiber 3 is formed in the center of the support 11 by means of a laser beam to the order of one several tenths microns without unnaturality. Elastic sleeves 34 formed of, for example, silicone rubber, are disposed at both ends of the adapter 13 between the same and pressing members 17, and the sleeves 34 are in close contact with the outside circumference of the support 11. At least one air escape groove 35 is formed to the inside circumference of the adapter 13 in its axial direction so that air is escaped from the top end to the outside through the groove 35 at the time of inserting the optical fiber together with the support 11 into the adapter 13.
