Abstract

882,408. Coaxial resonators. PATELHOLD PATENTVERWERTUNGS-& ELEKTROHOLDING A.G. Feb. 18, 1960 [Feb. 20, 1959], No. 5770/60. Class 40(8). A microwave resonator comprises a conductor 2 within a tubular casing 1, the conductor 2 having at each end a bi-metal disc S 1 , S 2 arranged on an axial support T in such manner that its edge approaches the conductor 2 with rise in temperature to compensate for temperature effects on the conductor 2 and other elements of the resonator. Suitable materials for the conductor 2 are iron-nickel steels and nickel-cobalt steels with temperature coefficients of about 1.5 x 10<SP>-6</SP> and 5 x 10<SP>-6</SP>, respectively. The conductor 2 is supported by four fixed pins 5 and two movable pins 6, the pins being of insulating material. The screw 4 tunes the resonator frequency and tensions a leaf spring 7 biassing the movable pins 6 against the conductor 2. The casing 1 has an opening through which the internal conductor 3 of a coaxial supply tube is coupled capacitively. The conductor 2 has an electrical length # n2 (n = a whole number equal to or greater than 2) and is supported where there are at least approximately voltage minima.
