Class 40(8) A section of coaxial line 1, 2 which contains a gas, or is evacuated, is sealed off by seals 3, 3<SP>1</SP> of dielectric material in the shape of frustums of cones with the apex ends 4, 4<SP>1</SP> around the inner conductor 1 and the base ends 5, 5<SP>1</SP> extending around the inner face of the outer conductor 2, said seals having an axial length of #/2 or n #/2 where # is the wavelength of the electrical energy wave in the transmission line at the mid-frequency of the energy which the line is designed to transmit.
