Abstract

890,974. Lifting trucks. JUNGHEINRICH, F. Oct. 19, 1959 [June 29, 1959], No. 35405/59. Class 78 (3). An electrically-driven elevating truck, with hydraulic elevating mechanism is steered by means of a control shaft 5 which has a " dead man's handle " action and is arranged to prevent load raising or lowering when the truck is in motion. The shaft 5 may also be oscillated in a vertical plane to actuate a pump for operating the elevating mechanism. The control shaft 5 is articulated to a second shaft 1 which can be coupled to the shaft 5 by a lever 4 and pin 7 and which carries cams 2, 3, 6. The cam 2 is arranged so that it applies the brake shoes 12 against the brake drum 8 when the lever 4 is vertical and the cam 3 simultaneously operates a switch to cut off the driving current. At off vertical positions of the lever 4 the cam 2 frees the brake drum, the cam 3 allows driving current to pass, and a cam 6 operates a valve so that the hydraulic elevating mechanism cannot operate. When the hydraulic elevating mechanism is to be used, the lever 4 is uncoupled from the shaft 5 and remains in its upper vertical position under the action of a spring.
