Abstract

574,136. Lifting trucks. YALE & TOWNE MANUFACTURING CO. June 19, 1943, No. 9923. Convention date, Sept. 23, 1942. [Class 78 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXII] In a lifting truck having an elevating platform 21 raised by a hydraulic ram 31 fed by a pump 34 through a valve controlled by a shaft 106 as described in Specification 554,532, [Group XXXII], the pump is electrically driven and the motor switch 67 and the valve operating shaft 106 are interconnected with the platform 21 so that operation is stopped when the platform is fully raised. The lift motor 20 supplied from a battery 17 drives through worm gearing 41, eccentric 37 and lever 36 a pump piston 34 to -operate the arm 30 pivoted to a lever 24 which raises the platform 21 through parallel levers 22. The ram cylinder 31 and the pump 34 are pivoted on a shaft 33 which passes through an elongated opening 43 in the lever 36. The valve controlling the flow of fluid from the pump to the ram cylinder is operated by the shaft 106 connected by a lever 50, rod 51, bell crank 53 and rod 57 to a handle 60. The bell crank 53 turns a cam 65 to close the motor switch 67 when the handle 60 is in the " hoist " position and a chain 80 secured between the platform and the lever 50 turns the parts to the " off " position when the platform is fully elevated. In this position the motor switch is opened and the valve turned to connect the pump with a reservoir. The truck comprises rear wheels 11 and a front driving wheel 12 driven by a motor 16 as described in Specification 570,746, [Group XXXI].
