Abstract

[Also in Division F2] In a masted lift truck, the spool of a directional valve 24 in the hydraulic circuit of a lift ram 14 is connected to a hand lever 34 by a linkage in which links 31, 32 are connected by the coil and armature of a solenoid 36. The hydraulic circuit is associated with an electrical circuit for energizing the solenoid whereby, when the electrical circuit is closed, the solenoid is energized and the links 31, 32 are movable in unison to move the valve spool to cause the ram 14 to be extended, and when a limit switch in the circuit opens, the solenoid is de-energized and a spring returns the valve spool to its neutral position. In the electrical circuit, there are provided two limit switches, one of which is normally open and arranged to be closed by movement of the hand lever 34 out of its neutral position, and the other of which 41 is mounted on the mast and is arranged to be closed when engaged by a cam block 46 on the lifting carriage 15. In operation, if the switch 41 is closed, closure of the other switch by downward movement of the hand lever will close the electrical circuit to energize the solenoid and the hydraulic pump motor. Further movement of the hand lever will then effect movement of the links 31, 32 to move the valve spool to the "lift" position. When the carriage opens the switch 41, the solenoid is de-energized, the valve spool returns to the neutral position and the pump motor will also be cut off. On moving the lever 34 upwardly, the link 32 moves towards the link 31 and then moves the link 31 to move the valve spool to move in the other direction to allow the carriage 15 to fall under gravity. A by-pass circuit, controlled by a switch 50 is provided for the limit switch 41. The hand lever 51 is rigidly connected to a valve spool in the hydraulic circuit of the tilt rams 18. In a modification (not shown), the limit switch 41 controls the range of movement of a side shifting attachment on the load carriage.
