Abstract

1387789 Pallet trucks BYGG-OCH TRANSPORTEKONOMI (BT) AB 27 Sept 1973 [3 Oct 1972] 45368/73 Heading B8H A pallet truck is provided with a steering tiller 1 which is also used as a pump lever for a jack operated lift device for raising and lowering the load carrying member of the truck, a control lever 2 being mounted for movement about a shaft 6 on the tiller 1 and being connected to the jack operated lift device by means of a rod 4, the lever 2 being locatable in three positions, as shown. In the upper position the jack operated device is operated to lower the load carrying member while in the middle position the tiller 1 is connected to the jack operated lift device so that elevation of the load carrying member is achieved on rocking the tiller, and in the lower position the tiller 1 is disconnected from the jack operated lift device such that the tiller 1 can be moved to its phantom line position of Fig. 1 (not shown), in which it is used for steering the truck. The rod 4 is spring loaded in a downward direction so that the lever 2 tends to move into the said lower position. In its middle position the lever 2 can be temporarily locked to the tiller 1 by means of a spring (7) in the lever 2, Fig. 3 (not shown), the ends of the said spring engaging respective balls 3 which engage in recesses in the tiller 1. Through adjusting the force of the spring (7) it is achieved that when the lever 2 is released from its upper position it is automatically pulled down to its lower position without stopping in its middle position. In order to bring the lever 2 to stop in its middle position the operator must hold it there until the spring (7) engages the balls 3 in their respective recesses.
