889,329. Hollow rollers; condensate removal. BELOIT IRON WORKS. Sept. 11, 1958 [Sept. 19, 1957], No. 29151/58. Class 34(1) Condensate is removed from a steam heated drier drum 10 through a syphon assembly rotating with the drum and comprising pipes 15, 16 and a mouthpiece 16a associated with a scoop 17. The density of the condensate passing through the pipe 16 is reduced by mixing with steam from the drum introduced through four inclined orifices 16e, 16g, 16f (one not shown) formed in the mouthpiece. This aids condensate removal in that the effect of the centrifugal force on the mixture so formed is less than the effect of the centrifugal force acting upon the condensate alone. The drum is connected to a steam supply source 'S' and a condensate disposal system 'D'.
