Abstract

889,214. Cleaning spinning &c. machines. PARKS-CRAMER CO. Jan. 16, 4959 [April 1, 1958], No. 1770/59. Class 120(3) [Also in Groups XXVIII and XL(b)] Dust-laden air is drawn from the vicinity of a textile machine 10, Fig. 1, through each of a plurality of suction hoods 8-8<SP>111</SP>, Fig. 2, and through an associated filter 12-12<SP>111</SP> and a valve 11-11<SP>111</SP> into a manifold 1 connected to a motor driven suction fan 3; the valves being magnetically actuated in sequence but with an overlap between the opening and closing of adjacent valves whereby the air flow through the fan remains substantially uniform during the sequential operation of said valves. The valveactuating magnets 15-15<SP>111</SP>, Fig. 4, which are arranged in parallel are excited when contactors 21-21<SP>111</SP> are closed by current fed from segments 19-19<SP>111</SP> over which is rotated by a motor 17 a distributer brush 18 connected to an A.C. supply; the spacing of the segments being such that the brush 18 overlaps adjacent segments for a predetermined short period. The motor circuit includes contact makers 25-25<SP>111</SP> and photo-electric cells 24-24<SP>111</SP> of decreasing sensitivity in parallel and also resistors 26-26<SP>111</SP> in series whereby the motor speed increases with increasing dust concentration. In a modification the suction hoods are located below the machine; the exhaust being above.
