Abstract

1,009,993. Air filters. H. LUHR. Aug. 8, 1962, No. 30374/62. Heading BIT. Reverse flow cleaning of a plurality of inward flow generally flat rectangular filter pockets a, Fig. 5, each secured at its narrow vertical open end to the near wall 5 of the filter casing which is provided with upper and lower slots 6, 7, Fig. 4, in register with the upper and lower portions of the pocket mouth is effected sequentially by a blower 10 discharging into a duct 9 extending across the row of upper slots 6 and containing an endless driven impermeable belt 15 having a vertical slot 16 in each run thereby allowing access of pressure air to the interior of the pocket with which the slot 16 is in register ; the lower slot 7 of the pocket a being cleaned being blanked off by a mask 19, Fig. 6, carried by an endless chain 18 driven at the same speed as belt 15 and enclosed by a duct 11 connected to a suction fan 12 which draws dust-laden air through an inlet 2 of the casing. The belt drums 14 and chain sprockets 17 are mounted on common spindles 13. In a modification the flow of cleaning air from blower 10, Fig. 7, is interrupted by a rotary valve 24 which in one position connects blower 10 to the duct 9 and slot 6 and in its other position connects the suction fan 12 to the duct 9 and slot 6. The blower 10 may be dispensed with and the duct 9 open to ambient atmosphere.
