Abstract

1462211 Air filter STORK AMSTERDAM BV 21 June 1974 [21 June 1973] 27753/74 Heading BIT Air is delivered from duct 6 into elongated cloth filter elements 10 which are arranged in a circle about axis 15, successive elements or groups (pairs) of elements being cleaned by a rotating nozzle 13 which connects their lower ends to a suction fan 20, which draws the dust from the elements into a cyclone 18 and recycles the air to the inlet side of the filter at 23. As shown elements are open at both ends and an isolator 7 rotates on the same shaft as nozzle 13 to shut off the delivery of air to the element(s) being cleaned. The isolator may allow a brief passage of unfiltered air straight through the elements' central bores prior to closure to improve cleaning. The isolator and nozzle may have a neutral position wherein all the elements in housing 25 are filtering, at which time the cyclone 18 and fan 20 may clean the elements in an adjacent housing. The housing has a two way valve 5 which can connect duct 6 to atmosphere and isolate the housing, in which state fan 20 may circulate air round the housing and through external heater 22 to prevent condensation in the filter elements. In Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown) elements are open only at their lower ends, through which air enters and dust is discharged. In Fig. 2 a single rotary valve connects the bags to the suction fan and simultaneously cuts them off from the incoming dust-laden air.
