888,667. Thermal storage space heaters. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. June 8, 1960 [June 8, 1959], No. 19511/59. Class 64(2) In an electric thermal storage space heater heated by means of a resistance element 4 and incorporating an air duct 7 to increase heat output when necessary, a damper 9 covers the upper end of the duct 7 and, by means of a knob 10, is opened when additional heat is required, the damper being closed by an electromagnet 18 when current is supplied to the heater. In the arrangement shown the armature of the electromagnet 18 is connected to the damper, closure of which is effected by movement of the armature when the electromagnet is energized. The energizing winding of the electromagnet is fed from the electric supply 16 and is energized only during charging of the heater. The switch 17 is arranged so that when the damper is opened the switch is closed and when the damper is closed the switch is opened. The damper may also be closed manually.
