Abstract
887,692. Nickel-plating baths. SEYMOUR MANUFACTURING CO. Feb. 18, 1960 [March 2, 1959], No. 5751/60. Class 41. Nickel-plating baths are improved by adding compounds of formula in which R is a hydrocarbon radical and X is an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal, for example methoxy phenol magnesium sulphate. The resulting plate is particularly receptive for further plates, e.g. of nickel. In examples, nickel sulphate and chloride baths include boric acid, sulphonated fatty alcohols and butoxy phenol magnesium sulphate and propoxy phenol calcium sulphate.
