Abstract
1,148,306. Cadmium battery plate. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 21 July, 1966 [6 Aug., 1965], No. 33719/65. Heading H1B. [Also in Division C7] A Cd plate for an alkaline battery is formed by electrolytically depositing Cd on to a grid (e.g. of Ag mesh) from a plating solution containing a soluble Cd salt and a soluble As compound and then pressing the plate to the desired thickness. The Cd salt may be CdSO 4 and the As compound may be As 2 O 3 . The plating solution may also contain Na 2 SO 4 or (NH 4 ) 2 SO 4 . A sheet of Cd may be used as the anode. Plating solutions are described where the pH may be between 3 and 7À5 and where plating may be carried out at temperatures up to 102‹ C. Current densities are specified.
