Abstract
684,434. Electro-deposition of nickel and chromium. HOUDAILLE-HERSHEY CORPORATION. Oct. 18, 1950 [May 18, 1950], No. 25364/50. Class 41. A method of plating comprises electrodepositing a ductile nickel coating, electrodepositing a bright nickel coating over the ductile nickel, and then electrobuffing the bright nickel prior to plating with chromium. The plating bath for ductile nickel coating may contain nickel chloride, nickel sulphate, boric acid, coumarin and a wetting agent, and the bath for bright nickel coating may contain a brightener instead of coumarin. The electrobuffing bath may contain sulphuric, phosphoric, and hydrochloric acids.
