Abstract

702,220. Electrodeposition of copper. POOR & CO. Feb. 1, 1951 [July 17, 1950], No. 2554/51. Addition to 599,707. Drawings to Specification. Class 41 In a method of controlling the electrodepositicn of copper on an electrically-conducting object of a type in which the copper would normally be deposited in greater concentrations in some areas than in others by a direct plating current, the object is subjected to a plating current in an acid copper sulphate plating bath, the current having an asymmetric wave form and comprising an alternating current superposed on a direct current in the ration of 2 to 4 volts. R.M.S. to 2.5 volts direct current, at current densities from about 2 to about 15 amperes per sq. ft. The plating bath may be in the proportions of copper sulphate 24 ozs. per gallon, sulphuric acid 6 ozs. per gallon, and glue # oz. per gallon. The frequency of the alternating current may be within the limits of about 25 cycles to about 60 cycles. Specification 597,426 is.referred to.
