Abstract

886,402. Making heat exchangers; soldering. AEROTAPS Ltd., and BUSBY, L. R. Aug. 12, 1959 [July 19, 1958], No. 23255/58. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). [Also in Group XIII] A space-heating radiator (see Group XIII) is formed from a length of rolled copper or aluminium section of 19 S.W.G. sheet with a hooked longitudinal edge. Further rolling closes the edge against the sheet for welding, oven-soldering or brazing to form a hot-water conduit 101. A flange 10c, Fig. 6, may be formed at the sheet edge so that the conduit 101 may be sealed by a continuous welding machine. Adjacent lengths of radiator may be joined, Fig. 9, by expanding adjacent conduit ends 105 and securing a tube 106 therein by capillary soldering or by brazing. The adjacent short edges of the sheets are joined by welding, soldering or brazing. The Provisional Specification refers also to the hooking of the edge being formed by drawing.
