543,018. Making heat exchangers. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Feb. 27,1941, No. 2657. Convention date, March 1, 1940. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Soldering.-A heat exchanger, such as a condenser for refrigerating apparatus, embodies a fluid conveying conduit or tube formed from strip stock with inturned flanges 13 at the edges, the flanges being arranged when assembled in the heat exchanger with the adjacent faces closely adjacent each other and the seam being brazed. The closing of the flanges may be effected by forcing the tubes through the apertures in the steel fin plates 11 to which they are brazed during brazing of the seam. The apertures may be formed with collars 16. Brazing of mild steel tubes may be effected by coating the collars and flanges 13 with brazing material or passing a copper wire along the seam and then heating.
