[Also in Group XIII] The sections of a radiator for heating buildings (see Group XIII) are constructed from pairs of members 1 stamped from 1.2 mm. coldrolled steel strip B to form recesses 22 and 23 for fluid flow and mid-ribs 26 for subsequent spot-welding. Apertures are cut in the strip B so that, when the steel strip is severed by a tool C, semicircular nicks 24 are formed at the ends of the member to facilitate joining to end headers for the supply and outlet of the heating fluid. A pressing-tool, Fig. 15 (not shown), is used to form flanges 25 on the members 1 which are spot- and seam-welded together electrically in pairs, Figs. 16, 17 (not shown). The pairs are then subjected to pressing in a device H, I, Fig. 18, to bend over the edges of the flanges 25 to form small flanges 29 for welding to plates which form air-shafts between the sections. The radiator is completed by brazing by immersion, when the headers are sealed to the radiator sections.
