Abstract

423,405. Plate heat - exchangers. ROSENBLAD, C. F., S÷dertõlje, Sweden. May 2, 1934, No. 13224. [Class 64 (iii)] The ends of a spiral-plate heat-exchanger are closed by spiral strips 10, 12, Fig. 1, held in position by radial plates 14 secured to the exchanger by bolts 15. The strips may be incorporated at the time the plates are wound and secured, if desired, to the radial plates by welding &c. The strips may be combined with packing 17. In a modification, the passages between the spiral plates may be closed at one end by strips 19, Fig. 4, welded to the plates. Fig. 5 shows a steam condenser in which the water passages 3 are closed by packing 17 held in position by strips 10, while the steam passages are open.
