Abstract
425,834. Plate heat - exchangers. LEBRE, A. F., 74, Boulevard Exelmans, Paris. Sept. 18, 1933, No. 25822. [Class 64 (iii)] Apparatus for transferring heat between fluids, e.g. a liquid and a gas, comprises a split casing divided into fluid ducts 5, 6 by partitions formed by a plate 7 between the folds of which are gripped the inner edges of heat - conducting gills 1, 1<1>. The outer edges of the gills may also be gripped between the folds of closure plates and, in this case, the casing may be dispensed with. In a modification, the edges of the gills may be turned either upon themselves or upon rods 9, Fig. 10. In another arrangement, the gills are formed with folds 10, Fig. 11, and pressed together, e.g. by the parts of the casing, to form the partitions. In a further modification, the gills are corrugated and spaced apart by bars 15, Fig. 13. The plates and gills may be of aluminium, copper, or iron.
