Abstract

884,539. Pipe joints. DE HAVILLAND AIRCRAFT CO. Ltd. Jan. 18, 1961 [Feb. 8, 1960] No. 4306/60. Class 99(1). In a joint between tubular members 10, 12 having radial flanges 18, 20 and capable of relative angular movement, a joint ring 26 of relatively non-resilient material having a low coefficient of friction and with a groove 28 in the inner periphery thereof is located between the adjacent end surfaces of the flanges, and clamping rings 30, 36 are disposed on each side of the flanges. Thrust washers 32, 34 are located between the rings and the flanges, and the rings are capable of being drawn axially together until separated by a predetermined distance set by distance pieces 40 between the rings. A support ring 29 may be disposed around the ring 26.
