Abstract
884,296. Supporting cables. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd. Dec. 5, 1958 [Dec. 6, 1957], No. 38028/57. Class 36. [Also in Groups XI and XXV] An electric heating installation comprises one or more cables laid out on a surface, such as a floor or ceiling, in such a way that straight runs are supported, at least adjacent their ends, in open key-hole shaped slots in clips; the clips and cable insulation being of such material and dimensions that after the cable has been pressed passed the restricted throat portions of the slots it is thereby restrained from rising out of the slots. A cable 1 is laid in zig-zag fashion, the parallel straight runs 3 being supported at their ends in slots in clips 6 which are secured to the supporting surface. A further clip 7 may be used to support the cable runs intermediate the ends. The clips may, e.g. be of T-shaped cross-section 6 or of L-shaped section 7, and the slots 10 preferably taper from the entry portion 12 towards the circular retaining portion 11. The clips may be of semi-rigid thermoplastic materials such as p.v.c. or polythene, or of vulcanite or of thermo-setting materials. The extruded clip of Specification 884,297 may be used. The cable may be insulated with p.v.c. or vulcanized natural or synthetic rubber and may have a metal braiding with a resilient rubber covering.
