Abstract

884,223. Sliding clasp fasteners. FLEX FASTENERS Ltd. Sept. 6, 1960 [Sept. 7, 1959], No. 30425/59. Class 44. In a locking slider the pull member has a locking finger which is urged into the locking position by a spring integral with the pull member on the slider body. As shown, the pull member 6 carries a locking detent 11 which in the locking position projects through a window 10 in the slider body 1. The spring 12 forms a tail to the pull member 6 and is retained by the overhanging lip 14 in a recess 13 in the body. Hinge pins 8 also formed integrally with the pull member are received in slots 7 in the body which are angled so that movement of the slider in the fastener opening direction causes the pins 8 to approach the slider body increasing the locking effect. In modifications, Figs. 6 to 8 (not shown) the hinge pin or pins are received under hookshaped members formed on the top of the slider body. The hinge pins may alternatively be formed integral with the slider body and received in recesses in the pull member; they may be gripped in their sockets and act as torsion springs, the leaf spring being dispensed with. The slider body and/or the pull member may be made of nylon or other thermoplastic.
