Abstract

921,822. Sliding clasp fasteners. COUMAR PRODUCTS CORPORATION. Jan. 26, 1960 [Jan. 29, 1959], No. 2864/60. Class 44. A locking slider for sliding clasp fasteners comprises a body 20 having a front wing 26 and a rear wing 28 connected at one end and having inturned flanges 32, 34 so as to provide a substantially Y-shaped channel, the front wing 26 having a recess 38 at the underside thereof and a pair of spaced outstruck lugs 40, 42 overlying the recess and defining an opening 44 therebetween, a locking member 22 being seated within the recess and having a loop portion 46 extending into and substantially filling the opening between the lugs 40, 42, and a locking detent 48 normally projecting into the channel, and a pull member 24 straddling one of the lugs having trunnions 88 extending into the loop portion and movable from a locked position to an unlocked position in which the loop portion 46 is raised by the trunnions 88 against the resilient action of the locking member to retract the detent. As shown, the locking member 22 is formed from a flat bank of resilient material and is formed with wings 66, which engage recesses 50 in the body wing 26. In the locked position of the pull member, the legs 86 thereof co-operate with one of the lugs 40, 42 to limit lateral twist of the pull member. In another form, Figs. 10-12 (not shown), the pull member is recessed so that side portions thereof project above the loop portion 46 in the locking position.
