A slider for a sliding clasp fastener comprises a body 2 including a single slider shield 3 having inturned flange portions 4 for engaging fastener stringers, a neck portion 8, a locking member 24 carrying a locking finger 29 and arranged in pivotal engagement with the neck portion, the locking member serving also for attaching a pull member 32 of the slider, a spring member 18 having portions 21 which engage a formation 11 on the neck portion of the slider body and a portion 33 which bears against the locking member, the locking member being acted on by the spring member in such a manner that when the slider is provided on sliding clasp fastener stringers, the locking finger is normally urged into a locking position with respect to the stringers, the locking member being movable against the action of the spring member by operation of the pull member, the locking member having a recess or projection 26 which is pivotally engaged by a projection or recess 15 provided on the neck portion. As shown the formation 11 consists of two post members 12, 13 and on the sides facing away from each other these have recesses 16 which receive lugs 17 which are carried by the portions 21 of the spring member. The co-operation of the lugs and recesses fastens the spring member to the formation but permits limited movement of the spring member. The locking member is received between the post members and has a curved said projection 26 which pivotally engages a curved said recess 14. The spring member engages a step 34 of the locking member and it also has a portion 22 which resiliently engages the slider body to bias the locking member to its locking position. A cam surface 35 on the body is engaged by the pull member to move it into engagement with the locking member if the pull member is not gripped at a suitable angle by user. A projection 27 limits movement of the locking member. In modifications the recess 14 is replaced by a projection and the projection 26 by a recess to provide the pivotal mounting. The pull member is in two parts hingedly connected so that it can always be flat and the portion 22 instead of engaging the body can engage the locking member instead of the portion 33.
