Abstract

954,307. Sliding clasp fasteners. FLASH FASTENERS Ltd. Aug. 30, 1962 [May 31, 1961], No. 19674/61. Heading E2S. A slider for a sliding clasp fastener comprises front and rear slider body wings 12, 13, means urging the wings apart, the rear wing 13 having a projection 17 which extends through a gap 18 in the front wing and has an overhanging portion 21 under which a swivelling pull member 22 is retained, the overhanging portion serving as a stop and limiting separation of the wings under the influence of the urging means. In the arrangement shown, a projection 19 of the front wing slidably engages a socket 16 of the rear wing, and the wings are biased apart by a spring 26 to an extent determined by a cam-shaped end 23 of a pull member 22, the end 23 engaging for pivoting movement of the pull member beneath the overhanging part 21 of the projection 17. The pull member includes an element-locking projection 27 and the arrangement is such that as the pull member is pivoted away from the front wing, the two wings are forced towards one another. A further cam may be provided on the pull member to move the wings apart as the pull member is turned further back from its normal position of use. In another embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown) a cap is provided over the part 21.
