Abstract

Class 20(3) [Also in Group XXV] A three part clip comprises an apertured underplate 10 having an approximately flat body with one flanged edge 11 and an apertured overplate 15 having an approximately flat body formed with a pair of opposed externally elbowed limbs 18, 19 and a fastening device 28 adapted to pass through an aperture in the overplate and an aperture in the underplate. As shown the clip is used with other similar clips for securing a metal beading 28 to a car body so as to hide the joint between the rear window and the panel 22. The glass window 23 is surrounded by a rubber sealing strip 24 which has a U-shaped groove 25 to receive the glass and a flange 26 which overlies the edge of the opening on the outside face of the panel 22 and a portion 27 which partially overlies the flange 26. The fastening device is a selftapping screw 29 which passes through the apertures in the two plates into a hole in the panel. The flange on the underplate is passed between the lip portion 27 and the flange 26, which prevents rotation of the plate, and the beading is engaged with the limbs 18, 19 of the overplate. The overplate is prevented from rotation by a pair of dimples 13, 14 on the underplate. A small amount of movement at the overplate is possible since the screw aperture 17 on the overplate is elongated.
