766,597. Mounting vehicle windows. MORRIS MOTORS, Ltd. Sept. 29, 1955 [Sept. 4, 1954], No. 25726/54. Class 20(3) An extruded rubber glazing strip 1, for mounting the curved glass panel 9 of a wrap-round type, front,. or rear. vehicle window, has a channel 2 for tightly gripping the edge of the panel 9. curved flaps 3 and 16, and a slot 6 which is formed in the base of the strip to receive the shorter limbs 5 of a number of L-shaped spring steel clips 4 which are spaced, two or three inches apart, throughout the length of the strip. The longer limbs of the clips 4 are each provided with a pair of barb-like retaining tags 7 which, when the assembly is pushed home into the window surround, dig into the panelling 8 and resist the tendency for the assembly to spring back due to the curvature of the glass panel. The flap 3 is sprung over a retaining' flange 10 and the lip 16 affords a seal with a part 17 of the panelling, a sealing compound being applied beneath the lip 16 to render the joint waterproof. A modified atrip 1A, Fig. 7, having a channel 2A for the panel 9 and curved flaps 3A, and 16. has no slit 6. the assembly being held within the window aperture 8 by means of spring steel clips 11. the shorter limb 12 of each of which is formed as a channel 12 having a pair of barbs 13 to grip the flange 10. When the assembly. i.e. the strip 1A fitted with the panel 9 is pushed into the frame, barbs 13 on the longer limbs 14 of the clips, which have previously been engaged with the flange 10, dig into the strip 1A and hold the assembly firmly in place.
