Abstract

882,874. Level-winding winches. SPIDER STAGING Inc. Sept. 8, 1959 [Sept. 18, 1958], No. 30699/59. Class 78 (5). Winch drum 34 is carried by frame 32 pivoted at 70 to base 32 so that the drum pivots as the rope winds thereon, thus facilitating the evenness of the winding. The swing of the frame is limited by stops 72, 74 and by spring rods 76 (not shown) or by hydraulic cylinders. The drum may be mounted on a painter's cradle so that the operator may raise or lower the cradle and himself.
