Abstract
706,959. Raising derrick masts. MOORE CORPORATION, L. C. March 14, 1952, No. 6658/52. Class 78 (4) The shoes 9 for receiving the feet of a derrick mast C are secured to arms 12 pivoted at 14 to the substructure A so that they may be secured to the feet of the mast in the position shown in full lines in Fig. 4 and subsequently swung into position on top of the substructure where they are secured by bolts (not shown). The mast is then swung about its feet in the usual way with the aid of a gin cole 22, a hoist line 23 and a sling 24 secured to the crown block (not shown). To permit the mast to be positioned with its feet between the main frames A and B, Fig. 3, of the substructure a prefabricated spreader 5 normally joining the frames is removed.
