880,674. Permanent magnets. GENERAL PRECISION Inc. March 17, 1960 [March 24, 1959], No. 9423/60. Class 35. A focusing magnet assembly comprises one or more axially magnetized annular ferrite magnets 10 flanked by ferromagnetic polepieces 12, 13 which have inclined surfaces 18a so that a gap between them increases with distance from the axis of the assembly to reduce leakage flux across that gap. The main flux is designed to pass from surfaces 16 axially along an electron tube (not shown) which the assembly surrounds. A series of alternate magnets and polepieces may be mounted along a tube to produce a continuous unidirectional axial flux.
